Taking the Music Back - Podcast
It's a great feeling when, even after many years and thousands of records, you still find new music that speaks to you.
Nandi Rose is a talented songwriter, and this song in particular manages to be both poignant and uplifting at the same time. Beautiful!
Baby don’t worry about me,
I don’t worry about you.
I’ve got places in my mind
That I’ll never find
If you’re holding my hand
Like you always do.
Baby when I’m feeling low
You don’t need to repair me.
I know myself well
When I’m in this hell:
It’s part of the process,
It doesn’t scare me.
Feelin ill,
I feel it all a little more.
Baby when the world has turned away
I know I’m gonna need you.
But I’ve got places in my mind
That I’ll never find
If you’re holding my hand like I wanted you to.
Feelin ill,
I feel it all a little more.
Sitting in the dark,
Dreaming up a song,
Crying in my coffee,
Doing it all wrong.
Everybody knows, it’s
Ordinary talk.
Walking to the lake,
Getting in my car,
Folding up the laundry,
Takin it too hard.
Everybody knows it’s
How we fall apart.
Singin at the stars,
Fumblin for my light,
Laughin at the TV,
Doin all right.
Everybody knows it’s
Only for the night.
Baby don’t worry about me,
I don’t worry about you.
I think it's difficult to write songs about something other than romantic love, and still be able to communicate the intensity with which those feelings can hit a person. Some of the entries on this album are fantastic examples of this niche. dani_bloop
A brave experimental record from the Cecilia Lopez & Ingrid Laubrock running darting sax lines through dense electronics & processing. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 10, 2023
You know, it wasn't my favorite for a while, but for some reason my brain decided to listen to it on loop a few weeks ago and now I can't stop thinking about it.
I love the synths, the tone, the lyricism, even the music videos which I feel I should mention!!!
(also, should've been me reminds me a bit of abba which is an automatic bonus in my book) praisedrays
